I'd say that the PS3 version is the best, followed by the Vita version, and then the PSP version at the back of the pack. I'd like to see it make a comeback in some form, however unlikely that it is. I think it's a better game overall than Mario Kart 7 on 3DS, mainly because of better balanced gameplay mechanics and a greater variety of challenges that encourage you to experiment and ultimately master the tracks. I don't think it was worth the $30 or $40 that it was originally selling for, but for under $20, it's a great time even if you never touch the (Wi-Fi Ad Hoc) multiplayer. I think I paid about $15 a few months after it came out. It previously did have an online repository for user-created content (which shared content with the PS3 version), but that was shut down about 2 years ago.ĭespite those issues, I'd still say it's worth getting, if you can get it for a good price. They also never bothered to include online play, which was a total shame and was rightly criticized in reviews (even the DS and 3DS Mario Kart games had online play). The Vita game has somewhat long load times (like the PS3-hey, developers, you didn't have to replicate everything from the TV console), and the frame rate can be a little questionable at times. I really hope Sony hasn't forgotten this IP and IMO it needs to return for PS5 and become Playstation's flagship Kart racer!ītw if any of you who read this were some of those guys who contributed to either the PS3 or PSVita creations a big THANK YOU for all your hard work! The PS Vita game was also very good but some of the later tracks were a bit unbalanced and not as fun as the work of United Front's on PS3.But i still had lots of fun with it and it also had a very creative community with some of the custom tracks being even better than the original ones. The online creative community was one of the most talented communities out there with so many tracks being so much fun to play. The tracks were all very balanced and designed extremelly well. Anyone who has played United Front's PS3 game knows just how super-fun that game was.We spend an insane amount of hours playing this game with my friend and his wife split-screen making our own championships while going through all the main campaign tracks.
